How to bake an apple cake

first, gather your ingredients

line a 20cm springform pan with baking paper

185g butter

2/3 cup of castor sugar

2 teaspoons grated lemon rind

place butter,lemon rind and sugar in the bowl of an electric mixer

cream until mixture is light and fluffy

3 eggs

beat in eggs one at a time

1 cup self raising flour and 1/2 cup plain flour

sift the flours

add the flours to the mixture

1/3 cup milk

pour in milk and stir.

combine the mixture

transfer mixture into prepared pan

spread mixture evenly in the pan

2 apples

peel and cut apples into quarters

remove cores

make lengthways cuts into rounded sides of apple quarters, cutting about three quarters of the way through

arrange quarters, rounded side up, around the edge of the cake.

place in oven...

and bake for about one hour

bake at about 180 degrees celsius

2 tablespoons water

1 teaspoon gelatine

dissolve gelatine in water over hot water

2 tablespoons strained apricot jam

add apricot jam to gelatine and water

and mix together

take your cake out of the oven when it looks golden brown

glaze cake with apricot jam mixture

leave cake to cool,and add more glaze.

you now have a delicious apple cake!

remember to wear an apron

use oven gloves when handling hot things.
